SENIOR TECHNICIAN IN ASTROPHYSICS – BIUST

Main Purpose of the job

To render the services required by teaching staff and students to perform practical work effectively in teaching and research. To support AVN and related projects, Astrophysics laboratory and provide required technical expertise enabling the laboratory to function effectively whilst adhering to correct procedures and health and safety guidelines.

Academic Qualifications

• A Bachelor Degree in Physics or Electronics/Telecommunication Engineering or equivalent.

Experience

• A minimum of 2 years of working experience in a teaching lab.

The position requires the following Competencies /Skills:

1. Good Hands on practical skills and communication skills
2. Organizational skills
3. Knowledge of radio telescopes and related instrumentation
4. Hardware assembly, testing and repair
5. Signal processing and data acquisition
