Head of Internal Audit (Risk) – First Capital Bank Limited

PURPOSE

• Works to ensure roles, responsibilities, and results are efficiently coordinated and collectively optimizing the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance of the company

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Preparing reports for senior management and the Audit Committee.
• Review and evaluate internal control systems, identify inappropriate and inadequate controls and recommend improvements in procedures and practices based on best practices.
• Responsible for implementing risk compliance strategies.

• Review the reliability and integrity of financial and operating information and the means used to identify measure, classify and report such information.
• Review the systems established to ensure compliance with established policies, procedures, plans laws and regulations and contracts which could have a significant impact on operations and reports, and determine whether the Bank is I compliance.
• Review the means of safeguarding assets, and as appropriate verify the existence of such assets.
• Appraise the economy and efficiency with which resources are employed.

• Review operations or programs to ascertain whether results are consistent with established objectives and goals and whether programs are being carried out as planned.
• Administering issues of AMI/CFT.
• Receiving and evaluating suspicious transactions report from Bank staff for submission to relevant authorities.

• Informally provides consulting and risk advice on risk management practices.

Training and mentoring of internal audit staff.

Liaison with Regulators and External Auditors as required

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. Finance or Economics and relevant Professional Qualifications with a reputable body such as CIA. CISA or ACCA

• At least ten (10) years relevant professional, five (S) of which should be at senior management level within a public accounting firm or reputable financial services institution
• Practical understanding of relevant regulatory environment Member of the Institute of Internal Auditors Botswana as well as BICA
• Must have a sound knowledge of the Finade Core Banking System

• Strong Analytical and evaluation ability
• Proven track record of coaching and leading teams Ability to influence decisions

Excellent understanding of risk-based internal audit and their execution

• Good knowledge of computer applications and computer-assisted audit techniques and audit software
• A good understanding of all applicable internal auditing standards as well as a good understanding of accounting, taxation, auditing general macroeconomic fundamentals
• Understanding of compliance wort programs and requirements.
