MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT

Main purpose of the job

To deliver effective and integrated financial performance management and business planning information including through budgets, forecasts, management reporting and analysis as well as reporting on the financial investment performance of the Company’s investees in a highly efficient manner.

Duties and responsibilities include:

• Preparing monthly management accounts, or performance reports with variance analysis, forecasts and commentaries for the Company
• Preparing regular reports summarising investees’ financial investment performance.
• Preparation of annual budget timetable for the various departments
• Determination of budget assumptions to be applied or considered in budgeting by the Company, taking note of strategic objectives
• Assisting departments with the preparation of their budgets
• Checking budget availability for all expenditure requests including those relating to projects
• Assisting in the development and maintenance of a satisfactory internal control environment and costs control in the Company
• Assisting in the preparation for internal and external audits as appropriate
• Assisting in the identification and management of financial business risks
• Enhancing and maintenance of the budgeting module to ensure it is integrated to other relevant IT modules in the Company as appropriate to achieve higher productivity
• Performing any other related duties and providing adhoc management information to support decision-making as required from time to time

Personal effectiveness

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, finance, Commerce or related field
• Professional accounting qualification such as ACA/ACCA/CA/CIMA
• Minimum of Associate Membership of Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants

Experience

• A minimum of eight (8) years general experience in the accounting field, three (3) of which should be post-qualification attainment in a management accounting or performance reporting function.
• Knowledge of computerised amounting packages is essential
• Experience in an investment management and/or mining environment will be added advantage
