Applications are invited from suitably qualifying candidates for the following position:

MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN

Salary Scale: C4/3 (P80, 172.00 – 95,760.00) per annum

Qualifications: Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology

Experience: At least one (1) year post qualification experience

Duties & Responsibilities: The officer should be able to work independently and his/her responsibilities include among others:

• Analyzing and interpreting doctors requests for pathology investigations for inpatients, outpatients and the general public for purposes of a proper approach to the patients need for laboratory investigations
• Assessing patients’ condition, prioritizing and ensuring that prompt attention is given to those requiring urgent attention. Prepares the patient physically and mentally in order to facilitate specimen collection through laid down procedures
• Preparing human specimens for diagnostic purposes. Ensuring correct labelling and specimens to avoid mixing and possibly fatal consequences. Arranging and preparing for the distribution of the different categories of specimens to the appropriate section of the laboratory.
