POLICE CONSTABLES – BOTSWANA POLICE SERVICE JOBS

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants should:

• Be Botswana citizens
• Be aged between 18 – 30 years
• Be physically and mentally fit
• Have no adverse criminal record
• Be of good character
• Have minimum height 1.6 meters males and 1.55 meters for females
• Have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 18-25
• Not be pregnant at the time of recruitment and must not fall pregnant throughout the duration of training.
• Not have visible tattoos on their bodies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Interested applicants should have a minimum of Diploma/Degree in the following areas;

• Structural Engineering
• Digital Forensic Examination
• Auditing
• Radiography
• Sound Engineering
• Physiotherapy

(b) DIPLOMA
• Air Craft Maintenance Engineering

• Medical Laboratory Technician
• Pharmacy Technician
• Ophthalmic Nursing
• Nursing
• Questioned Document Examination

(c) Aircraft Pilot (Must have a Commercial Pilot Licence with at least 200 hours).

TRAINING AND PROBATION PERIOD:

Successful candidates will be required to undergo Police Training for 12 months and serve a two-year probation period (inclusive of training).

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

On completion of training, candidates will be expected to carry out the functions of the Botswana Police Service as outlined in Section 6 of the Police Act Cap 21:01 of Botswana Laws:

• Protect Life and Property
• Prevent and Detect Crime
• Repress Internal Disturbances
• Maintain Security and Public Tranquillity
• Apprehend Offenders
• Bring Offenders to Justice
• Duly enforce all written laws with which the Botswana Police Service is directly charged and to generally maintain peace.

REMUNERATION, BENEFITS AND OPPORTUNITIES:

i) Contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government pays 50% and employee 50%)
ii) Contributory Pension Scheme for Permanent and Pensionable Staff (Government pays 15% and employee 5%)
iii) Overtime allowance at 20% of Basic Salary.
iv) Free housing or housing allowance at 15% of Basic Salary in lieu of housing.
v) Electricity and water subsidy.

SALARY SCALE: B1 (67116 – 80172) per annum (During Training)
C4 (80172 – 95760) per annum (After Training)
C3 (99348 – 118716) per annum (After Confirmation)

LEAVE: 20/25 working days per annum.
