STUDY PHYSICIAN – Botswana Harvard AIDS Institute Partnership

Botswana Harvard AIDS Institute Partnership is a collaborative research and training initiative between government of Botswana and the Harvard School of Public Health. BHP is dedicated to fight HIV/AIDS and related public health challenges through collaborative research, education and capacity building.

We seek hands on, result driven individuals, with good interpersonal skills to fill the above position within the partnership. The incumbents should be hardworking and willing to learn.

CODA Study: A clinical pharmacokinetic study to assess drug interactions between HIV antiretroviral medicines and hormonal contraceptives.

Reporting directly to the Principal Investigator, the Study Physician plans, develops, and oversees the clinical activities of the study in accordance with the research parameters established by the study protocol and ethical standards. Amongst other things he/she is responsible for;

• Coordinates the planning and implementation of DTG HC PK study, in collaboration with the Site Leaders and other study coordinators.
• Coordinates, and assists in the implementation of the unit’s operational aspects which includes general administration, data management and regulatory administration.
• Providing high quality clinical care to study participants.
• Work closely with stakeholders, study recruiters and other study team members to ensure a smooth recruitment and retention process and that accrual targets are reached timorously.
• Takes a leadership role in managing and training research nurses and research assistants.
• To prepare clinical and annual performance reports as needed.
• Maintains protocol standards according to the guidelines of the Institution, Human Research Committees, NIH/DAIDS, ICH and other governing agencies.
• Assists with the design, coordination, implementation, and assessment of the Quality Assurance Plan in collaboration with the Site PIs, other study coordinators, and quality team officers.

• Degree in Medicine + practice license
• At least 2 years clinical research experience and managerial/supervisory roles
