Pharmacy Technician – Life Gaborone Private Hospital

A vacancy exists for a Pharmacy Technician based at Life Gaborone Private Hospital, reporting to the Pharmacy Manager. The successful candidate will participate and support the department in ensuring that quality pharmaceutical care services, financial objectives, legislative compliance requirements are achieved to the required standards.

Critical Outputs:

Effective quality and medication safety management

• Assist in implementing pharmacy best operating practice related to medication safety management with the objective of reducing medication incidents to below target.
• Dispense medication accurately under the supervision of a Pharmacist.
• Drive customer satisfaction and pharmacy quality initiatives in area of influence.

Effective financial management

• Identify areas of improvement in financial measures relating to pharmacy.
• Build effective working relationships with doctors and other professional staff.

Effective asset management

• Participate in all-stock management process to achieve targets.
• Ensure replacement of stock in the emergency cupboard.
• Ensure ethical stock is issued to wards as required.

Effective systems management

• Ensure optimum system utilisation.

Effective people management

• Provide direction and inspire positive work behaviour in team.

Requirements:

• Diploma in Pharmacy Technology or equivalent
• Current registration with Botswana Health professions Council
• Understanding of operating structures and relationships within a hospital environment
• Current pharmaceutical product knowledge as well as knowledge of pharmaceutical legislation
• Computer proficiency (MS office)
