NETWORK SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR – JB SPORTS

JB is local retail company established in the year 1994. The company has developed from a sports shop to a successful fashion and lifestyle retail store.

We are currently looking for a NETWORK SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR.

OVERALL JOB FUNCTION:

To manage daily operations of our computer networks by installing, maintaining network hardware and software, monitoring network to ensure network

availability to all system users and perform necessary maintenance to ensure that the system is operating at full capacity. To supervise other network

support and client server specialists and plan, coordinate, and implement network to enhance security and reliability. Additionally, prevent data loss and

unauthorized access by performing and verifying data backups and randomly performing tests to make sure that it’s intact and correct.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF ROLE:

• Determine an organization’s system needs and install network hardware and software

• Make needed upgrades and repairs to networks and ensure that systems are operating correctly

• Maintain network and computer system security

• Evaluate and optimize network or system performance

• Add users to a network, and assign and update security permissions on the network

• Train users in the proper use of hardware and software

• Interpret and solve problems when a user or an automated monitoring system detects a problem

• Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments, including computer hardware, systems software,applications software, and all configurations.

• Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures in order to protect data, software, and hardware.

• Operate master consoles in order to monitor the performance of computer systems and networks, and to coordinate computer network

access and use. Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations.

• Direct user support, particularly during upgrades and migrations to new systems/applications.

• Research new technology, and implement it or recommend its implementation.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES

• Hardware and software configuration

• Information security

• Database design

• WAN and LAN connectivity

• SQL Server Database

• iRetail Software

• Performing SQL Queries

• Great at organizing, prioritizing and multitasking

• Knowledge of Linux servers

• Knowledge of retail systems

• Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• BSc degree in Computer Science or related field

• 5-10 years of work experience, as a network system administrator

• 3 years of which was in retail supervisory role, will be an added advantage
