Summary Of Position:

The purpose of the role is to support and maintain the University’s national, regional and international reputation for excellence in learning, teaching and research. Contribution to teaching and administration of the team which includes managing the team, support for course development, innovation, lecturing, conducting seminars and supervising undergraduate and graduate students.

Qualification, Experience and Skills Required:

• Only candidates with PhD in the area of Education or related areas are eligible to apply for this position.

• A minimum of 5 years in a Leadership position

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

• Work with the Dean to ensure that there is human resources capacity to deal effectively with the modules offered within the Department.
• Responsible for implementing strategic decisions relevant to their department through their teams and in coordination with other Departments.
• Establish appropriate processes and documentation for the operations of their Department to ensure that goals are achieved in a systematic and monitored manner.
• Responsible for maintaining a positive and effective working relationship with stakeholders, external partners and regulators.
• Work together with the Faculty of Research Committee (FRC) to ensure coordinated research activities within the Faculty and the Department.
• Handle students queries and complaints about modules, staff members, facilities and quality with the greatest sensitivity and urgency.
• Work with industry and academia to provide valuable inputs to the quality and relevance of the Department’s programmes/modules.
• Ability to inspire and motivate students.
• Monitor and manage Departmental staff performance.
• Be a constructive member of Botho University team.
