Sports Development Officer wanted at Botswana National Sports Commission

The Botswana National Sports Commission, a statutory body established to promote sports in Botswana and participation in sport outside Botswana invites suitably qualified and experienced individuals to apply for the position of Sports Development Officer for the following National Sports Associations;

1. Botswana Athletics Association (BAA)
2. Botswana Boxing Association (BOBA)
3. Botswana Rugby Union (BRU)
4. Botswana Tennis Association (BTA)

Reporting directly to the Sport Development Manager Technical, the incumbent will be responsible for promoting and enhancing sport development initiatives for the Association applied for and the Commission, as well as facilitating capacity building in the area of coaching, refereeing/ umpiring, adjudication and any other such essential field for the development of the Association applied for.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The incumbent will have the following responsibilities:
1. Implementation of development plans of the National Sport Association
2. Existence of clear plans for the talent scouting and with and development
3. Liaison with schools and institutions on general sports development matters
4. Maintenance of database of Sports Clubs, Athletes, Sports Administrators and Sports Technicians.
5. Monitoring and enhancement of performance of the National Sports Association.
6. Timely preparation of reports.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Development/Physical Education, or related field or equivalent. Qualifications/ Licenses such as Coaching and Umpiring are an added advantage.
2. Minimum five (5) years’ experience in the sporting environment and technical knowledge of the National Sport Association applied for.
