VACANCY: DEPUTY DIRECTOR – E2 X 1 POST, DEPARTMENT OF ICT & MEDIA SERVICES

Applications are invited from highly motivated and well experienced self-driven candidates for the position of Deputy Director in the Ministry of Basic Education (Department of ICT and Media Services) on a contract of 24-36 months.
SALARY: E2 (P373, 152 – P 388, 236 per annum)
LEAVE: 30 Working Days Per Annum
BENEFITS:
- Optional Medical Aid Scheme with the Botswana Public Officers Medical Aid Scheme (BPOMAS-Government pays 50% and employee pays 50%). However, in the event the applicant has been subscribing to other Medical Aid Schemes besides BPOMAS an option to continue membership with respective Medical Schemes will be allowed. Government undertakes to contribute an amount equivalent to the position that the employee would have been entitled to under BPOMAS.
- For new entrants to the public service, a contract of 24 – 36 months with gratuity payable at the rate of 30% upon the expiry of contract.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum Degree in Education Management.
Postgraduate of Master’s Degree in any of the following: Management, Information System, Monitoring and Evaluation will be an added advantage or any other related field.
EXPERIENCE:
A Minimum of fourteen (14) years relevant work experience in any of the following: Educational Management, Management, Management Information System, two (2) of which should have been served as Deputy Director on D1 salary scale in Government, or equivalent position and duties in the Private Sector and Parastatal Organization.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To assist the Director in providing visionary leadership in the development and implementation of policies and programs on ICT and ensure effective and efficient performance of the department.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Monitors and evaluates feedback from the Department’s clients on the adequacy of the services provided and undertake corrective action as necessary.
- Provides responses to stakeholder inquiries.
- Develops partnerships with stakeholders to promote the use of ICT, in teaching and learning.
- Disseminates information to stakeholders on research, monitoring and evaluation findings.
- Initiates long term strategic planning for the Department, determines priorities and directs resources accordingly.
- Develops and monitors implementation of the Department’s strategy and plans in collaboration with the Director.
- Translates strategies into action plans, efficient procedures and sound policies that support the needs of the Department.
- Initiates and monitors evaluation of educational programmes to inform the education sector and support e-learning.
- Collaborates with Corporate Services Division to ensure that there are adequate resources for the Department to undertake its work.
- Undertake any other related duties as required to meet the exigencies of the service.
