Senior Accountant – Plant wanted at Bothakga Burrow Mining (Pty) Ltd

Bothakga Burrow Mining (Pty) Ltd is a leading contract mining company which has been involved in the Botswana Mining Sector for over eleven Due to growth in the business, the company seeks to employ a Senior Accountant responsible for Plant.

The successful incumbent will be required to assist the Plant, Finance and Commercial team in the integrity and analysis of plant results through accurate systems, reporting knowledge and strengthening project processes and systems of internal control. He or she should be able to produce timely and accurate management information, communicate at all levels, and be strong in cost control and business risk management.

We are looking for someone with the following attributes:

• Ability to work on own initiative, prioritize work, handle pressure and be highly organized.
• Proactive with a commercial appreciation and experience in business risk management
• Ability to communicate effectively at all levels both verbally and in writing;
• Experience in plant life cycle costing.
• Ability to lead, motivate subordinates.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinating the business planning and financial forecasting cycle for the Company, in particular the development of annual plant budgets and forecasts.
• Review plant operating costs with the maintenance team to ensure costs are in line with life cycle costs and condition of the plant.
• Ensure accurate maintenance of plant operating ledger and provisions, ensuring cost control is maintained.
• Demonstrate detailed understanding of relevant costs and analyse costs to achieve optimal outcomes for the project.
• Contribute to improvement of efficiencies in plant operating costs,
• Ability to relate plant provisions to OEM life cycle costs and overall project financial planning.
• Maintain planned positive cash forecast for equipment.
• Ensure a safe and healthy work environment and adhere to all environmental, health and safety standards and requirements for the department (SHEQ).
• Developing and maintaining reliable management and cost reporting systems to ensure accurate and on time reporting, (Plant Cost reports, projects. Board reports, Exco report. Escalation reports. Cash flows and forecasts).
• Executing financial investigations and evaluations of projects or new business initiatives with the view to increase shareholder value.
• Developing, implementing and maintaining adequate internal controls that ensured correct valuation and reporting of plant cost, and financial integrity of management reports.
• Review and report on commercial aspects of all projects.
• Training and mentoring of Graduate trainees.

Job Requirements

• Degree in Accounting. FCCA/FCIMA or any relevant qualification.
• Registered member of BICA as a Fellow Member.
• S years’ relevant experience of which 3 should be served at Senior Level.
• Experience in construction or Mining industry
• Cost control, analysis and reporting,
• In-depth knowledge of the Finance and management accounting functions.
• Experience in an ERP environment such as SAP.
