CHIEF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY OFFICER wanted at Local Enterprise Authority (LEA)

The Local Enterprise Authority (LEA) was established by the Small Business Act of 2004 to carry out, on behalf of the Government of Botswana, the mandate of entrepreneurship and enterprise development through business plan facilitation, training and mentoring, promoting domestic and international linkages for SMME’s. LEAs vision speaks to creation of innovative, sustainable, and competitive SMME sector in Botswana.

Recognising that businesses which adapt and adopt will reap rewards in today’s business landscape, the Authority is looking for leadership in the digital transformation and knowledge management space to support LEA’s operations and efforts towards SMME development. This is more of a strategic-change agent role than IT implementation. The role delivers the transformation of traditional approaches and operations using digital processes and technologies to generate new business opportunities, revenue streams and customer services. Replacing manual reporting and information gathering tasks with the digital equivalent all the way through to reorganising business units, SMME monitoring, tracking and reporting, information and knowledge management ensuring the accessibility of quality information and knowledge depositories and enhancing LEA’s client’s leveraging of technology.

You will need to be hybrid of a professional with deep digital knowledge and technology experience and a commercially astute individual capable of formulating and implementing a digital strategy successfully. Understanding culture change and complexity of digital transformation is critical. A Business or IT degree with significant experience being responsible for or overseeing the IT/Digital/ Technology transformation throughout an organisation is required. A Master’s degree will be an added advantage. You will need to prove an exemplary track record of achievement gained in ever progressive roles over 10 years.
