DIRECTOR GENERAL wanted at Southern Africa Federation of the Disabled (SAFOD)

To report to the Regional Executive Council (REC) of SAFOD.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Planning, directing, controlling, coordinating, and supervising SAFOD administrative functions.
2. Signing off programme and project agreements with partner agencies, donors/funders on behalf of the REC when assigned.
3. Ensuring the implementation of the resolutions of the General Assembly in consultation with REC.
4. Providing leadership in the implementation of the annual work plans approved by the REC.
5. Performing other lawful functions assigned by the REC.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCES:

1. Minimum of 15 years of experience of progressive leadership and accomplishment working in non-profit administration or community development, with a bias to the disability sector.
2. Big picture, visionary thinker.
3. Adept at community relations, public speaking, and relating to a variety of stakeholders.
4. Prepared to commit to a minimum of five years of service.
5. Willing to travel internationally.
6. Must be a person with a disability.

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:

To be considered for the position the candidate must preferably possess a minimum of Bach­elor’s Degree in Community Development, and/or other relevant discipline.

CONTRACT PERIOD:

Five (5) years fixed term contract (renewable).
