STRINGING OPERATOR SUPERVISORS

DESCRIPTION: There are vacancies in Mawana-Legotlhwane, Botswana for Stringing Supervisors in the Overhead line division reporting to the Site Engineer

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITY:

To set up, maintain and operate machinery. A great Stringing Operator Supervisor who is reliable and able to work with attention to detail and safety standards.

• Controlling Machines and Processes
• Using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes
• Monitor Processes, Materials, or Surroundings – Moj
• Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems.
• Inspecting Equipment, Structures, or Material – Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
• Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates
• Performing General Physical Activities – Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
• Control and adjust machine settings (e.g. speed)
• Set up machines (calibration, cleaning etc.) to start a production cycle
• Inspect parts with precision and measuring tools
• Keep records of approved and defective units or final products
• Feed raw material or parts to semi-automated machines

KEY REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE;

• Good communication skills.
• Ability to communicate well with team at all levels to discuss, liaise and negotiate work related tasks effectively.
• Good customer services skills.
• Working knowledge of diverse high-speed machinery and measurement tools (caliper, micrometer etc)
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics and manuals.
• Knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act. Qualification preferred.
• Affirmable understanding of the Overhead Power Line Fundamentals.
• First aid in the workplace.
• Use and maintain power tools on a construction site.
• Incident and accident investigation.
• Fall arrest systems and protection plan.
• Use and maintain manual lifting and equipment and tackle.
• Select, use and care for power tools.
• Basic Rigging and slinging.
• Apply firefighting techniques.
• SHE Rep.
• Proven experience in operating Stringing Equipment rated 9 Tons and higher.
• Proven experience in stringing overhead power lines 220kV and higher.
• Proven experience in stringing Optical Ground Wire.
