The Botswana Prison Service is pleased to invite applications from suitable candidates for the limited posts of Warder/Wardress. The positions are tenable at various Prisons establishments around the country.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants should:

• Be Botswana citizens
• Be aged between 18-35 years
• Be physically and mentally fit
• Have no adverse criminal record
• Be of good character
• Not be pregnant at the time of recruitment and must not fall pregnant throughout the duration of training.

TRAINING AND PROBATION PERIOD:

Successful candidates will be required to undergo a six (6) months Initial Prison Officers’ Course and serve a two-year probation period.

REMUNERATION AND BENEFITS

1. Contributory Medical Aid (Government pays 50% and employee 50%)
2. Contributory Pension Scheme for Permanent and Pensionable Staff (Government pays 15% and employee 5%)
3. Overtime allowance at 20% of Basic Salary.
4. Free housing or housing allowance at 15% of Basic Salary in lieu of housing.
5. Electricity and water subsidy.

SALARY SCALE:

BI  (73 836 – 88 200) per annum (Diploma holder during Training)

C4 (88736 – 101 508) per annum (Degree holder during Training)

C4 (88736 – 101 508) per annum (Diploma holder after Training)

C3 (105 312 – 125 844) per annum (Diploma holder after Confirmation)

C3 (105 312 – 125 844) per annum (Degree holder after Training)

LEAVE: 25 working days per annum.

Shortlisted candidates will undergo a selection process, which includes:

• A comprehensive medical examination in accordance with the Botswana Prison Service medical standards
• A comprehensive physical fitness assessment
• Criminal vetting
• Security vetting
• Aptitude tests, (written and oral interviews)
