GENERAL MANAGER wanted at Mokolodi Nature Reserve

Mokolodi Nature Reserve, a project of Wildlife Foundation situated 15km south of Gaborone, is a not-for-profit Charitable Trust that seeks to drive environmental awareness and conservation through education in Botswana. The Foundation was created in 1994, leading to the establishment of Mokolodi Nature Reserve on 3,700 hectares of donated bushveld land. Income generated from tourism activities and donations, is used to maintain and develop the Reserve, particularly through educational activities, with more than 270,000 children having benefitted since its’ inception.

The Foundation seeks the services of a dynamic, experienced individual as General Manager, to lead management and the development of the Reserve to meet its strategic goals. Key roles would be in operational and personnel management, liaison with customers and overseeing the Reserve’s finances and education activities.

The successful candidate would ideally have several years experience in management of a significant wildlife-based tourism and/or environmental education enterprise and/or game farm, with demonstrated success in staff leadership, facilities (including land) and financial management. A sound background knowledge of conservation, animal husbandry and veld rehabilitation is important. Good computer literacy and excellent spoken and written English communication skills is required, with additional languages, particularly Setswana, an added advantage. Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to deal with people from all walks of life and cultures are essential. A tertiary qualification in Conservation, Environment or Management would be useful.

This would be a live-in position with accommodation and utilities provided. A market competitive salary would be negotiated.
