PrEP and HIVST Linkage Assistants – Jhpiego

For more than 45 years and in over 155 countries, Jhpiego works with health experts, governments and community leaders to provide high- quality health care and to prevent the needless deaths of women and their families. Jhpiego, together with BUMMHI and Ministry of Health and Wellness are working towards Accelerating Botswana through the Last Mile of Epidemic Control (ABLE) by providing HIV prevention, care and treatment services. Jhpiego therefore seeks to recruit for the following position;

1. Position: PrEP and HIVST Linkage Assistants

Summary Scope of Work

The PrEP and HIVST Linkage Assistant will be responsible for providing education on PrEP and HIVST, identify patients eligible for PrEP and navigate them through the PrEP continuum. The Linkage assistant will establish and maintain strong collaboration with other service delivery point where potential PrEP and HIVST target clients will be identified. This role will be based at a designated health facility. There will be close collaboration with members of the team, facility management and district health management team (DHMT).

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the Facility Managers, health care providers at facilities, other ABLE Project in activity planning and represent PrEP and HIVST
• Work closely with HTS, TB, OPD, VMMC, ANC, IDCC and other department to make sure clients are assessed for substantial risk
• Provide PrEP education and coordinate PrEP demand creation activities including distribution of IEC materials, put up posters and ensure ongoing demand creation at facility level
• Conduct substantial risk assessment using a standardized tool
• Ensure all clients seeking PrEP service are tested for HIV as per National HTS guidelines and link HIV negative clients at substantial risk to PrEP eligibility screening
• Support the navigation and tracking of PrEP clients through the service continuum from substantial risk assessment through to discontinuation

• Follow up PrEP clients who missed their appointment
• Support the distribution of HIVST to target population at different service delivery points (HTS, TB, IDCC, ANC, STI, VMMC and others)
• Liaise with Lab HTS master trainer to ensure availability of HIVST at services delivery points
• using standardized data collection tools the candidate will record, keep PrEP client records/tracking system updated
• Ensure the correct capturing of HIVST distribution data in different service delivery points using standardized tools
• Weekly, monthly PrEP and HIVST reporting to the M&E coordinator

Qualifications, skills and Knowledge

• Minimum certificate in Health Care Auxiliary, 3 to 4 years of experience on related field
• Advanced certificate Counseling and HIV Testing.
• A minimum of one-year experience in offering testing and counseling services
• Experience with Patient navigation and linkage between services
• Excellent organizational skills including the ability to handle a variety of assignments, sometimes under pressure of deadlines
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be of high integrity and have a sense of confidentiality
