SAFETY. HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT OFFICER (2-YEAR FIXED TERM)

Job Summary

Reporting to the Senior Business Partner – People Management; the role implements all Safety. Health and Environmental (SHE) programmes and systems within the BIHL Group.

Key Performance Areas

• Carries out risk assessments and implements mitigating action plans
• Prepares monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc management reports as may be necessary
• Supports any relevant regulatory reporting required
• Keeps statistics and provide reports for non-compliance
• Ensure compliance with all relevant legislative pieces
• Coordinate all SHE processes and ensure up-to-date documentation of the same
• Liaises with contractors to ensure they comply with set SHE standards
• Conduct health and safety inspections to take corrective action
• Document SHE processes and procedures
• Raise awareness of the SHE Policy, its objectives and programmes
• Conduct SHE induction training
• Train staff at all levels to ensure sufficient functioning knowledge
• Promotes health and safety work practices to staff
• Develop effective emergency response teams and guidelines
• Ensures proper housekeeping and SHE standards
• Create and maintain an up to date SHE management information system
• Visit incident scenes and investigate
• Provides advice on workman’s compensation claims

Experience/Knowledge & Skills

• At least 3 years’ work experience as a SHE Officer or related position

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or a Safety Management professional qualification
