Purpose of the Role

To drive and operate a Front End Loader in accordance with Debswana standards and legal requirements.

Key Job Responsibilities

Recommends cost saving initiatives for inclusion in sectional budget process
Conducts Risk Assessment before the commencement of any work as per laid down policies and procedures
Performs visual checks on machinery/equipment in order to establish any defects, assessing specific requirements and reporting findings to the supervisor/dispatch as appropriate
Carries out cleaning activities, bush clearing, grade set monitoring and helps evacuate stuck machinery as directed from time to time
Operates machine to rip, doze, dig, assists in conveyor installation and pushing into feeders in accordance with the existing operating policies and procedures

Operates the machine to construct, profile haul roads and working areas through use of applicable systems, in accordance with the existing operating policies and procedures
Directs trucks where to tip at dumping areas
Trams machine between sites as required in accordance with existing policies and procedures
Positions machine into fuel bay with assistance of the Fuel Bay Attendant
Records fuel quantity filled
Disembarks from machine to refresh as per the laid down policies and procedures
Interacts with fleet management systems as per the policies and procedures
Consistently communicates with the Dispatch Foreman
Performs tasks of a predominantly manual nature which includes but not limited to; cleaning of the cab, cleaning of the machine body as and when required

Other Job Responsibilities

Adheres to all safety, health and environmental policies in area of responsibility taking cognisance of all legal requirements

Education

O Level

Experience

2 years experience in a mining environment

Legal Certification/Professional Registration

Drivers License – Class B
Must have a valid competency certificate for D475 & D375 Track Dozers
Must pass Vienna test
