M&E Informatics Specialist – Community Based

Interventions for HIV/AIDS in Botswana Project

Reports to: Monitoring & Evaluation Manager

Region: Gaborone

HPP Botswana is a non-governmental international organization operating in Botswana focusing on HIV re­lated projects funded by USAID. HPP is currently advertising a vacancy for the Health Informatics specialist to lead its two projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

• Experience designing, developing, executing and or supporting interoperability between data storage platforms including DHIS2.
• Bea subject matter expert regarding the design, development, maintenance, operation, enhancement, and configuration of data systems and informatics capabilities to address the needs of the project.
• Be knowledgeable of Botswana database set up requirements, standards, and regulations.
• Supporting and strengthening of all health information systems, development of interoperability systems and user-friendly interactive data use products
• Must have excellent knowledge of some programing language (PHP, Java, C++, python, etc) and familiar with ODK, Java spring or Commcare.
• DHIS2 developer or super user experience.
• A solid understanding of M&E practices.
• Experience working with a PEPFAR based project is a plus.
• Excellent organizational skills, great attention to detail
• Strong experience in the development of procedure manuals, SOPs and guidance documents
• Excellent communications skills, including writing and oral presentation skills.
• Good analytical, presentation and reporting skills
• Excellent inter-personal and leadership skills

Qualification and experience

The candidate must have at least 2 years’ experience working as database developer, database programmer, data analyst and other relevant experiences to the responsibility for this position.

The candidate applying for this post must have at least a Bachelor Degree in Health Informatics, Statistics, Health systems Information Technology, Computing any other relevant qualification. They must possess a Certificate in DHIS2 Fundamentals and DHIS2 Information Use.
