MAINTENANCE FOREMAN – BARMINCO

Barminco is one of the world’s largest hard-rock underground mining service providers with over three decades of international experience. As part of the Perenti Group, Barminco employs over 4,300 people, at 22 projects in seven countries. In line with an opportunity that has presented itself in our Botswana operations, we are seeking applications from qualified and experienced Maintenance Foreman to join our team. This position will be based at Zone 5 under Khoemacau Copper Mining (KCM) located near Maun in the north-west of Botswana.

MAINTENANCE FOREMAN

Purpose

To lead the Maintenance department ensuring the highly specialised fleet of machinery is maintained as per the plan, emphasising productivity and the technical aspects of the role while maintaining the values of Safety, Integrity and Excellence

Key Responsibilities/ Requirements of the Position:

• Works closely with the Maintenance management team in achieving the objectives of the department.
• Ensure immediate remedial action is made on all detected hazards from work place and safety inspections; ensure weekly workshop audits are conducted and recorded.
• Regular presence on the work shop floor to ensure quality of work on all scheduled services, random checking of service sheets and other documentation to ensure timely completion of allocated tasks, including regular trips to U/G working environments where maintenance personnel are working.
• Initiate immediate remedial action on equipment breakdown and parts ordering if applicable.
• Liaise with the Maintenance Planner on a daily basis to ensure effective and efficient schedules are in place for the servicing and repair of equipment.
• Liaise with mining management on a regular basis to understand their needs and equipment availability requirements.
• Monitor the min/max levels of stock and request adjustments as required and also identify critical spares and maintain stock levels accordingly.
• Effectively manage the execution of planned work orders to reflect the forecast maintenance
• Planned schedule to identify equipment specific issues and instigate appropriate corrective actions through company and OEM resources and systems.
• Monitoring of costing in the work orders so that they are correctly coded and updated in the system.

• Ensure all work planned or unplanned is followed up to make sure work carried out is of a high quality and standard.
• Monitoring of expenditure in accordance to monthly budget and notify Project Manager of significant deviation.
• Carry out periodic checks of work performed, with Leading Hands to ensure that tasks marked as being done have been completed to a high standard and documentation completed correctly.

Required Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:

• Degree qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• 5+ years in engineering roles
• 10+years of mine site experience
• Project Management / Supervision experience
• Experience with development of project budgets and schedules
• Preparation of scope of works documents
• Mobile Equipment Workshop experience
• Experience working with ERP systems i.e. SAP / PRONTO
• Reliability techniques and defect management
• Site engineering, either underground or open-cut
