Job description

The incumbent will support Laboratory management in lab procurement matters and provide an interface between the BHP Laboratory and the Finance Office. Among other responsibilities the incumbent will be responsible for the following:

• Receiving, storage and Issuing of stock
• Procuring and issuing reagents and consumables for Laboratory and BHP clinical sites according to laid down procedures
• Maintenance and Protection of Inventory
• Updating of Bin card (lab and Clinics)
• Clearing of goods from international sourcing and liaising with the courier company in tracking of goods.
• Maintaining Laboratory records of expenditure as per the organization’s Financial procedures
• Checking delivery of Laboratory supplies to ensure agreement with vendor Invoices and authorized purchase orders
• Managing Laboratory stock by adhering to minimum order requirements and lead times in order to prevent stock-outs
• Makes follow-ups on outstanding purchase orders
• Liaising with vendors regarding payments and outstanding order items by checking deliveries against invoices and purchase orders

Reconciling vendor accounts regularly as per financial procedures

• Subscribe to good work ethics and a commitment to excellence.
• Experience using PASTEL Evolution software is an added advantage.
• A valid class B driver’s license

Qualifications and experience

• Minimum of Diploma in Purchasing and Supply or any related field.
• 3 years of experience in purchasing and supplies.
• Work experience in medical, laboratory or public health related area is an added advantage.
