Role based in Marsh Botswana

Role Purpose

To enable a smooth running of the finance team and processes and provide support to finance team and business leaders.

Job Description

Financial planning and analysis

• Preparation and consolidation of entity budgets for presentation to the local Exco and Group Exco
• Developing the operating and financial plan required to achieve management’s strategic plan and preparing internal reports to inform management’s decision making process.
• Provide enhanced strategic decision support, analytical insights and translate key data for the business through effective reporting
• Review of performance against budgets, forecasts and historical numbers in order to identify data anomalies, trends, or deviations – and then introduces strategies for improvement
• Preparation of updated forecast including assessing the risk and opportunities within the plan
• Preparation of monthly flash results and tracking of month end in-order to drive results as well as ensure timely and accurate financial reporting which impacts results

Financial Reporting

• Ensuring monthly reporting is completed timeously and accurately
• Provide support to Controllership team on internal and external audit tax related matters including WHT, PAYE, Corporate tax
• Monthly review of trial balance and general ledger to ensure accurate financial reporting
• Managing the T&E process to ensure all payments are settled and all expenses captured by users on the system
• Managing the Accounts Payable process which includes supplier maintenance, payments processing, preparation of vendor reconciliations and clearing of reconciling items
• Preparation of month end reporting to all stakeholders
• Review and authorization of payments
• Preparation of monthly journal entries

Regulatory reporting

• Preparation and submission of regulatory returns and liaising with the regulator
• Management of internal compliance related policies and compliance reporting
• Assumes overall responsibility for all administration matters including general office upkeep and maintenance of all office infrastructure and company assets.
• Perform other duties as are assigned from time to time by the Managing Director.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Degree in Accounting or equivalent qualification plus a professional qualification such as CIMA, ACCA or CA.
• Minimum Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA) registration with the Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA).
• Membership to a recognized Professional Body or Association.
• At least 3 years’ experience in an audit environment
• At least 3-5 years’ experience at a Multinational organisation or experience in the Financial Services Sector
