POWER PLANNING ENGINEER – BOFINET

POWER PLANNING ENGINEER (5 YEAR CONTRACT)

Main Purpose of the Job:

The incumbent will be responsible for analyzing and developing BOFINET power and air conditioning network infrastructure and will make decisions pertaining to power and air conditioning infrastructure planning, within agreed power deployment technology and backup frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

• Draw up specific proposals for power infrastructure upgrades or replacement systems.
• Produce feasibility reports for eventual decision-making on power equipment deployment and capacities.
• Analyze power deployment alternatives and options for both suitability and sustainability.
• Decode users’ requirements into power and air conditioning infrastructure project briefs.
• Produce power infrastructure detailed designs, implementation plans, and associated budgets.
• Work closely with power infrastructure developers, vendors, and suppliers to ensure the deployment of superior technical solutions.
• Assess load requirements of all power infrastructure installations and suggest modifications and/or upgrades.
• Process applications and requests for power provisioning in all BOFINET’s installations.
• Develop power installation designs and associated costs for new power and air conditioning network infrastructure.
• Develop power infrastructure performance specifications, standards, and capabilities.
• Work closely with Operations and implementation teams during installations and upgrades.
• Work closely with vendors and suppliers for the design and implementation of BOFINET power infrastructure.

• Ability to read and decipher technical drawings and as-builds.
• Appreciation of telecommunications power infrastructure technologies and deployments.
• Probe and question all aspects of installations and the processes developed
• Manage suppliers and vendors and maintain relationships

Academic Qualification and Experience

The candidates should have attained the following:

• Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
• 5 years’ experience in power systems of which 2 years must be in a Telecommunications environment.
• Training in power systems planning would be an added advantage.
• Class B driver’s license.
