BCL’S operations are currently on care and maintenance, following the winding up of the Company in 2016, thus no mining operations are currently taking place. BCL is seeking suitably qualified citizen candidates, who are highly adaptable and resilient, for the following positions:

• Engineering Specialist Underground Infrastructure and Care and Maintenance Manager Underground

Internationally recognised Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or in Engineering Science and suitably qualified and experienced in Project Management.

Registered Professional Engineer with Registration Board of Botswana and/or Engineering Council of South Africa.

Holding the Government Certificates of Competency (GCC)(RSA) for mechanical and/or electrical engineering disciplines will be highly beneficial in proving competence, in-depth understanding and management of legal compliance work streams, for safe operation of mining infrastructures.

Proven intimate knowledge and understanding of underground infrastructure including vertical and decline shafts; winding plant; deep mine dewatering systems; ventilation systems; compressors and ground handling systems.

Experience in preserving and carrying out repairs to critical mine assets such as mining diesel equipment, compressors, cable belts, electrical reticulation and main and auxiliary ventilation fans.

Proven experience in deep mine dewatering systems including extreme pressure columns, manifolds, isolating valves, critical pumps and drive motors.

Experience in maintaining and repairing safety critical mining infrastructures and equipment facilitating accessibility to underground workings, including shaft steelwork, headgear, conveyances and chairlifts.

Track record in management of capital mining projects, control of contractors and preparation of technical specifications as well as enquiry documents for procurement of mining equipment.

Proven experience in control, implementation and review of structural designs for vertical and incline shafts operation and design.

Proven ability for carrying safety audits to ensure statutory compliance as well as the ability to reach the root cause analysis in faults and failures, along with the ability to provide a viable engineering solution.

Ability to manage and direct subordinates in daily engineering care and maintenance and associated activities and to interact with Regulatory personnel.

Ability to recognise and act on matters to de-risk the mining operations and contribute positively to the efficiency, reduced energy consumption and cost effectiveness of activities.
