BCL’S operations are currently on care and maintenance, following the winding up of the Company in 2016, thus no mining operations are currently taking place. BCL is seeking suitably qualified citizen candidates, who are highly adaptable and resilient, for the following position:

Technical Lead – Logistics Hoists and Compressors

Suitably qualified Mechanical Technician in charge of seven functional and three mothballed winding plant and the legal compliance associated with the safe conveyance of man and materials daily.

Proven experience in underground infrastructure interaction, with particular focus on Winding Plant for man and materials transport in vertical and decline shafts as well as the pressure vessels and the large main ventilation fans, both axial flow and centrifugal types.

Knowledgeable and conversant with statutory requirements of Chapter 44:02 with respect to maintaining legal compliance of winding plant and pressure vessels, with the ability to interpret factors applicable to the various, double drum, single drum and Koepe type winding plant.

Ability to interact with specialist service providers on technical matters pertaining to winding plant, conveyances, attachments and ropes as well as interaction with Regulatory Authorities.

Proven ability and experience in managing the logistics associated with winding rope safety including statutory destructive and non­destructive testing procedures.

Proven supervisory skills in managing winder technicians including automation, the winding engine drivers’ team and the rigger ropeman team, along with the associated tools and equipment.

Proven experience in shaft infrastructure inspections and repairs.

Proven ability in planning, co-ordination and record keeping for all functions pertaining to pressure vessels and various winding plant.
