Assistant Branch Manager – Sefalana Cash & Carry

Sefalana Cash & Carry, a leading distributor of Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) in Botswana, has an opportunity for a grounded and passionate trader to fill the position of Assistant Branch Manager. The position is available at a flagship branch scheduled to open soon at Molapo Crossing in Gaborone.

The ideal candidate must have:

• a minimum of a Botswana General Certificate in Secondary Education (BGCSE) or an equivalent qualification.
• at least five (5) years’ work experience in a management position within a high-volume FMCG business environment.
• thorough understanding of the various departments and product categories within a supermarket business.
• strong business administration abilities to coordinate business activities in a large entity.
• be able to motivate and inspire diverse team members to deliver superior business results.
• be able to assess situations with precision and make accurate and timely business decisions.
• be self-driven, customer-centric, attentive to details and able to interpret consumer trends.
• able to execute assignments delegated to him/her timely and as per the set specifications.
• a valid Class B driver’s license.

Responsibilities:

• assist the Branch Manager to direct daily operations and meet the set business objectives.
• ensure that employees adhere to company policies and procedures and internal management controls.
• advise the Branch Manager from time to time on issues of concern and findings discovered through routine review of departmental checklists/diaries.
• coordinate discussions on company policies/procedures during staff meetings as scheduled.
• identify sales opportunities to ensure that the business achieves the set sales revenue targets
• ensure proper stock management practices to meet customers’ needs and minimize losses.
• continually monitor adherence to set shrinkage control measures to minimize stock losses
• monitor hygiene/housekeeping standards at the sales areas; and maintain a desirable business image.
