Orapa Saccos is a Savings and Credit Co-operative Society registered in Botswana in 1988 under the Cooperative Societies Act. Membership is currently over 1500 members as of April 2021. The SACCOS was started with the Orapa / Letlhakane Debswana employees in mind.

The mission of the SACCOS is to provide efficient, sound, and affordable services to its members at reasonable interest rates to meet their social and economic needs.

Our Vision is “to be one of the leading savings and credit cooperative societies in Botswana offering excellent services and products to our customers”.

We are seeking to recruit highly qualified result-oriented individuals for the following positions tenable in Orapa Botswana.

1. INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY OFFICER

The incumbent will be responsible for the ICT Function that is monitoring and maintaining the computer systems and networks of the SACCO, installing, and configuring computer systems, diagnosing hardware and software faults and solve technical and applications problems

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure the routine maintenance of ICT equipment
• Ensure that virus protection software is installed on all PCs and updated regularly
• Providing technical support to system users
• Perform system administration tasks
• Train staff in application usage and troubleshooting
• Developing, maintaining, and monitoring procedures for all server backups and reports generation
• Monitoring of LAN / WAN and internet firewalls
• Install, configuring and upgrading operating, security software and administrative packages
• Perform E-marketing and communication i.e., website updates and running of Facebook, Twitter accounts etc
• A team player in development and implementation of SACCO’s ICT Strategy Development of customer service platforms
• Provides technical advice on new technologies that are relevant to the SACCO
• Manages, develops, and communicates disaster mitigation and recovery plans in case of system failure/malfunction to ensure business continuity
• Contributes to the development and management of security of information and communication systems
• Participate in the purchase, installation, configuration of ICT Platforms to ensure integrity, awareness, updates, and security of all ICT Resources are in line with the society’s strategic plan
• Monitor the progress of the design, coordination, installation and commissioning of the various networks and systems
• Investigate, recommend, and install enhancements and operating procedures that optimize the SACCO system functionality, network availability and reliability
• Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports to Management or as may be required
• Any other lawful duties as may be assigned from time to time by Management

QUALIFICATIONS

• A Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Computer science, IT, or related discipline from a recognized institution
• Knowledge of Operation of various Banking systems and databases, Software development and Networking techniques
• A+, N+ or Similar Certification in User support and Networking
• Windows Server and Client Systems- Knowledge and Application
• Practical skills Web application programming (php, JavaScript, Asp, Html*)
• Skills in database Administration especially MSSQL, MySQL.
• Basic Programming Skills (.net, java)
• Good knowledge in local area networks, security of data
• Capability for troubleshooting, networking, and support

INTERPERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

• Able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Good communication and interpersonal skills

EXPERIENCE

• A minimum of three (3) years post qualification experience in networked multi user environment.
• Knowledge of Cooperative Model will be an added advantage.
• Proficient in IT systems and databases
