MAINTENANCE MANAGER – Limpopo-Lipadi Private Game & Wilderness Reserve

JOB DESCRIPTION

Position title:               MAINTENANCE MANAGER

Directly reports to: General Manager

Supervises: Maintenance Team

Validity:  Permanent after 6-month probation period

Location: Limpopo-Lipadi Private Game & Wilderness Reserve

Background Limpopo-Lipadi Game Reserve is situated in the Tuli Block in central eastern Botswana. The reserve is approximately 20.500-hectare in extent. There is an urgent need to further professionalise and protect our wildlife and to secure all other Reserve assets, Limpopo-Lipadi is therefore looking for an expert with a proven track record for this role to lead the Maintenance Team.

Major Responsibilities

The Head of Maintenance will be required to develop and implement strategies and operational tactics that will efficiently and effectively protect all Reserve assets. This will include the following:

• Coordinate and train Maintenance Staff
• Coordinate patrol efforts to maximize protection, and use SMART Monitoring tools where appropriate and applicable
• Collect and collate maintenance information
• Coordinate with relevant departments
• Develop Standard Operating Procedures for all aspects of the function and ensure that these SOP’s are being fully adhered to at all times

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or Equivalent Qualification in Maintenance/Operational Management
• At least 5 years of experience in a conservation related role

Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies

• Strong understanding of Botswana conservation
• Knowledge of SMART (Spatial Management and Reporting Tools)
• Excellent and proven track record in coordination and people management
• A driver’s license and ability to effectively drive a 4X4. motorcycle, ATV and Quad Bike is mandatory
• Above average English written and spoken skills
• A basic ability to speak Setswana will be a great advantage
• Strong proven leadership skills
• Ability to develop and manage a financial budget
• Proven track record in liaisons with all stakeholders including government agencies
