MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR – U.S. Embassy

The U.S. Embassy, in Gaborone is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the following position:

MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR: FSN-09/FP-05 (steps 1 through 4); Gaborone-2021-012 (P354,118 Starting salary per year + benefits) based in Gaborone

Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for managing the maintenance and housing staff, under the supervision of the Facility Manager. This also includes maintenance of all residential properties, chancery, and warehouse. Incumbent serves as a Level 1 Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) for projects both commercial and residential.

Qualifications and Evaluations

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with a strong background in building construction is required.

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: Three years related work experience in either construction or building maintenance management including 2-year supervisory experience are required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE: Excellent working knowledge of field engineering, civil, electrical and mechanical, building and construction practices, local codes and standards are required. Must have knowledge of all trades to serve as quality inspector. Trades include but not limited to: Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC, Painting, Masonry, Fabrication and Stand-by Power Generators.

LANGUAGE: Level IV ability in English. Level IV ability in Setswana are required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to manage a multi-trade work force, develop and manage projects, devise work schedules, Ability to read schematics (construction and equipment manuals) troubleshooting by plan, installation of lighting and wiring circuits, capable of performing low and medium voltage electrical system installations, maintenance and repairs. Ability to install and repair small tonnage air conditioning systems and some working knowledge of other trades, such as plumbing, carpentry and building. Valid class B Driver’s License. Able to lift 40kg. Computer skills: Microsoft Office; Word, Excel and Outlook are required.
