POSITION: Finance Officer
Function
To assist VGBO financial management primarily focussed (but not exclusive to) on analysing accounts, preparing financial statements. Supports annual budgeting and forecasting; cashflow management and funding requirements planning; monthly reporting analysis and preparation of monthly management accounts Statutory and tax compliance (AF5. audit, income tax returns, PAYE, VAT); testing and validation of system accounting processes; auditing of financial systems; and processes.
Responsibilities
- Prepares consolidated internal and external financial statements by gathering and analysing information from the general ledger system.
- Maintains and balances an automated consolidation system by inputting data; scheduling required jobs verifying data
- Analysts information and options by developing spreadsheet reports and verifying Information.
- Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and files and reconciling accounts.
- Prepares payments by accruing expenses; assigning account numbers requesting disbursements, reconciling accounts.
- Develops and implements accounting procedures by analysing current procedures, recommending changes.
- Answer’s accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
- Provides accounting support for mergers and acquisitions by reviewing financial information; converting data to general ledger system; obtaining supplementary information for preparing financial statements.
- Protects organization value by keeping information confidential
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
- Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
- Prepare and submit financial pipeline reports per funders requirements.
- Preparation of related donor required VAT reporting.
- Preparation of travel advances.
- Prepares payroll and reconciles bank statements.
- Carry out any other work-related assignments as requested by Supervisors.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree In Accounting,
- Financial Management. Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years working experience with related grants management
Skills
Tracking Budget Expenses, knowledge of the policies and procedures, which govern the retention and disposition of external funding award documentation. ; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with VGBO personnel funding agencies, and private organisations. Ability to interpret various governmental and corporate documents and to accurately respond as required.
