VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT – SENIOR TECHNICAL OFFICER

FHI 360 seeks a suitable candidate for the Senior Technical Officer position – Seconded to Ministry of Health and Wellness The incumbent will plan, manage and coordinate implementation of activities in a specific public health programme

Summary of responsibilities

1. Public Education

• Monitors stakeholders compliance to Public Health standards and regulations
• Public Health Strategic communication and advocacy

2. Technical Support

• Supervises and mentors junior officers and assists relevant stakeholders.
• Coordinates capacity building initiatives
• Coordinates and conducts operational research studies on Public Health issues.
• Coordinates pre and in-service training on Public Health staff and support staff.
• Provide guidance in the development, implementation and monitoring of policy issues of a given area of operation.

3. Monitoring and Evaluation

• Monitors and evaluate Public Health Programmes.
• Verifies and manages programme data.
• Develops indicators for Monitoring & Evaluation of programmes.
• Conducts mentoring supervisory supports visits to districts periodically.
• Endorses and submits statistical reports to the programme.

4. Finance

• Coordinates the preparation of expenditure reports.
• Collaborates with programme officers in estimating and developing budget.
• Reviews the programme manpower estimates

5. Staff Development

• Coordinates and monitors in- Service training of different levels of Health Personnel on Public Health issues.
• Identifies training needs for Public Health Officers.
• Coaches and mentors junior staff in Public Health skills..

Desired Experience and Qualifications

• A minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences. Nursing. Environmental Health, Epidimiology, Health Education. Public Health, or equivalent.
• A minimum of 8 years relevant work experience, two of which have been working as 2 years as Senior Health Officer or equivalent.
