JOB POSITIONS: WASTE CONVERTER MACHINE OPERATORS (x2)

Sir Ketumile Masire Teaching Hospital (SKMTH) is the first quaternary hospital in Botswana whose mandate is to provide high-quality patient-centred clinical care, medical education, and health research. The institution is a state of the art facility that provides both speciality and subspecialty services. The institution is registered as a company limited by guarantee wholly owned by the Government of Botswana established under the Companies Act Cap 42:01.

Over the past year, we have seen Sir Ketumile Masire Teaching Hospital continue to play a leading role in the fight against COVID-19 in Botswana as the high-care referral centre for COVID-19 patients, a feat that is illustrative of the Hospital’s commitment and mandate to become a centre of excellence in health care services.

The objectives for Sir Ketumile Masire Teaching Hospital are:

• To provide highly reliable quality medical services.
• To be a centre of excellence for health research and teaching.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To operate the Clinical Waste Convertor Machine to

recycle all of the hospital waste (Clinical, Domestic and Sharps)

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Botswana General Certificate of Secondary Education (BGCSE). Any other specialized training or exposure in a related field will be an added advantage.

CONTRACT PERIOD: 12 Months

EXPERIENCE: At least two (2) years of prior work experience in a hospital environment.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Set up clinical waste converter machine before operations
• Record the weight of the processed waste per shift and the number of cycles achieved
• Ensure that the waste recycling process is always completed successfully
• Take out the out-put of the treated processed waste
• Meet daily recycling production target
• Clean the working area

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD HAVE;

• Experience as a machine operator.
• Knowledge of production procedures.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics and manuals.
• Analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Physical stamina and strength.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with an effective ability to communicate and interact with customers, clients and colleagues
• Excellent time management and organizational skills with a strong ability to prioritise and balance tasks under pressure.
