• Research Supervisors

The Botswana Open University (BOU) requires qualified and duty-conscious persons to join the University as Part-time Research Supervisors for the Bachelor in Education Primary and Integrated Early Childhood Development students.

Qualifications for BEd Programmes supervision:

Applicants should possess a Masters Degree in one or more of the following disciplines: Education; Early Childhood; Educational Management or other related degree. A PhD will be an added advantage.

Experience

• At least two years teaching experience in a tertiary institution
• For research supervision, applicants should have supervised research students at Degree or Diploma level.
• Applicants should possess BQA Accreditation as an Asses- sor/Moderator

Responsibilities

The supervisors will be expected to perform the following duties:

• Respond to research related queries raised by students through different means of communication.
• Monitor students’ research submissions and provide them with detailed feedback.
• Adhere to the turnaround time set for providing feedback.
• Guide students with their research proposals and provide feedback.
• Provide all the necessary guidance and counselling to students.
• Guide students with selection and planning of suitable and manageable research topics.
• Be a member of a team that critically reviews students’ proposals and provide constructive feedback to the students.
• Provide constructive, timely and thorough response to students’ complete research dissertation submissions.
• External Moderators

Botswana Open University (BOU) requires strategically minded and solution driven individuals, with a track record of experience in education training to serve as External Moderators for its Certificate in Vocational Education ^Training (CVET).

Duties

The successful candidates will be expected to:

• Examine and quality assure CVET assessment materials and ensure that they adequately cover the stipulated competences.
• To ensure that assessment instruments developed are valid and reliable.

• Externally moderate assessment processes and procedures.
• Evaluate and help ensure fairness and consistency in the assessment processes.
• Moderate candidates’ work and ensure that they adhere to the University’s quality standards.
• Assess the quality of students’ Portfolios.
• Ensure that assessment records are accurate and complete.
• Provide an informed opinion on the work assessed/moder- ated by submitting a detailed and comprehensive report, including recommendations for improvement.

Qualifications & Experience

• Master’s Degree in Education, or any related field plus Post Graduate Diploma in Education or a related qualification.
• Accredited as an Assessor/Moderator by Botswana Qualification Authority (BQA).
• At least two years post qualification experience in teaching.

Added Advantage

• Candidate should have completed an Assessor/Moderator course.
• Prior hands-on experience in competency-based assessment

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Good analytical skills
