HIGH ACCESS WELDER – Louwill Lefa

Louwill Lefa will shortly be commencing with the fabrication and erection of the Karowe Diamond Mine headgear, as a sub-contractor to UMS Botswana (Pty) Ltd, who are busy with shaft sinking and underground construction for Lucara Botswana (Pty) Ltd at Letlhakane in the Boteti sub-district. Shaft sinking and underground construction, as well as the erection of shaft headgear, are highly specialised activities and an expert understanding of sinking methodologies, underground construction, mine health and safety as well as contract management knowledge is essential. We are currently searching for suitably qualified and experienced candidates to be considered for the following positions in Letlhakane. Please note that all positions are project based and that all applicants for the technical position must have been trained in working at heights and the use of portable electric equipment:

Job Summary

A Welder’s responsibilities include inspecting materials, maintaining tools, performing pre-welding preparations, welding components according to specifications and diligently following safety regulations.

To be successful as a Welder you should be able to study schematics and devise welding plans. A top Welder should work with great attention to detail and must be able to deliver a consistent and smooth weld.

Key Responsibilities:

• Reading and interpreting drawings and schematics.
• Determining the required tools, materials and welding methods.
• Assembling, installing and repairing components and systems according to specifications.
• Inspecting materials, equipment, and tools.
• Maintaining supplies, equipment, and tools.
• Preparing working materials by clamping, cutting of the material.
• Examining completed welds to ensure they are free of defects, smooth, and functional.
• Observing safety regulations.
• Weld small and large components such as beams, and pipes.
• Weld components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Minimum grade 10
• Qualification as Welder
• 5 years’experience of structural steel Welding
• Experience on Working at heights
• Hand tool knowledge
• Power tools Knowledge
• Read and Review Drawings in conjunction with Welding symbols
