Country Security Officer

Overall job purpose

To proactively manage Physical Security risk within the Global Retail and Commercial Banking by implementing and embedding the Group Protective Security Policy and ensuring Physical Security reporting standards are complied with, investigations as well as training and prevention initiatives across the country.

Main accountabilities

• Develop and implement security policies, standards, protocols and procedures
• Control budgets for security operations and monitor expenses
• Train security officers, guards and SPOCs
• Attend meetings with other managers to determine operational needs
• Plan and coordinate security operations for specific events
• Coordinate staff when responding to emergencies and alarms
• Review reports on incidents and breaches
• Investigate and resolve issues
• Create reports for management on security status.
• Analyze data to form proposals for improvements (e.g. implementation of new technology)
• Carry out security risk assessments for all Absa Bank Botswana premises
• Carry out residential security assessments for executive management
• Executive protection
• Project management in relation to security items
• Respond to call outs from all Absa premises
• Supplier management
• Liaison with law enforcement agencies on security matters

Education and experience required

• A minimum of Diploma in Security Management with experience in security related field or Certified Security Management Professional (CSMP) with experience in security related field

Knowledge and skills

• Knowledge of Physical Security Governance, legal and regulatory requirements.
• Basic Operation of security equipment ie Access Control, CCTV, Intruder Alarm.
• Interviewing/ investigatory techniques together with effective report writing skills
