JOB TITLE: LEGAL SECRETARY

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Preparing/Filing/collecting/follow up pleadings at the magistrate, high court, industrial court, land tribunal or any other established court of law in Botswana.
• Attending debt collection debtors coming to the office.
• Delivering mail in and around Gaborone in the absence of the office messenger
• Purchasing of urgent utensils/materials/goods to the office in the absence of the messenger.
• Preparing weekly report on all matters.
• Receiving/scanning/Attending to any document served at the office.
• Attending communication (updates/ to and from client) through email/fax/cell phone and or landline calls.
• Managing and updating the attorney’s diary for any new dates and/or appointments.
• Attending to file opening and collection of KYC.
• Attending any other duties that may be assigned at the specific given time.
• Knowledge or experience in conveyancing is an added advantage

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS, ABILITIES, ATTRIBUTES

• Diploma in secretarial studies
• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a legal secretary in law firm
• Driver’s License (Class B or equivalent)
• Good communication skills
• Ability to work well in a team and present a professional demeanour
• Trustworthy
• Friendly, approachable
• Reliable
• Sense of confidentiality with sensitive information
