BACKGROUND:

The Botswana-Baylor Children’s Clinical Centre of Excellence (COE) is a partnership between Baylor College of Medicine, Princess Marina Hospital and the Government of Botswana. It exists to provide high quality comprehensive family centred health care, education and clinical research. In partnership with Global Communities, COE implements a community- based project which contribute towards the achievement of the UNAIDS Triple 90-90-90 target, health, economic and educational outcomes. The COE’s role in this community-based project is to provide comprehensive care and support services to Orphans and Vulnerable Children and their family members.

COMMUNITY HEALTH WORKERS (04)

Duty Station Location: Gaborone

Commitment: Full Time Employment; Hours expected to work per week: 40 hours.

Contract Period: 11 Months

2.1 Core Activities and Accountabilities

• In collaboration with the health facilities; identify and refer Children & Adolescents Living with HIV to treatment, care & support.
• Enroll OVC and specified adults in the Comprehensive Care & Support project,
• Provide relevant OVC services and link the beneficiaries with other service providers.
• Conduct follow up visits for clients enrolled in the project.
• Recruit qualifying adolescents to join Teen Club and facilitate teen club activities at district level.
• Mobilize caregivers for PET, Caregiver and Young mothers for educational & support sessions.
• Capture accurate and comprehensive client information on daily basis using a tablet.
• Consistently generate accurate and timely weekly and monthly reports for the OVC project.
• Safely and securely store client data.
• Utilize project information at district level.
• Ensure proper use of project funds.

2.2 Minimum Position Requirements

• Minimum of Form 5.
• Training related to OVC work, Youth Work, HIV/AIDS, will be added advantage.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in OVC work or HIV/AIDS work or other related work
• Applicant must be residing in Gaborone

2.3 Desired Attributes

• Ability to organise work.
• Ability to work in the community and under minimal supervision.
• Ability to demonstrate sensitiveness to Children & Adolescents Living with HIV.
• Applicants should be residing within the community (duty station).
• Ability to follow instructions.
• Must be able to use a phone / tablet
