Botswana Examinations Council (BEC) is mandated under Section 5 of the Botswana Examinations Council Act CAP 58:03 (as Amended by BEC Amendment Act No. 19 of 2020) to manage and conduct examinations and assessments in General Education, as well as, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). BEC has developed a new strategy and consequently, a new structure that is aligned to the strategy. The organization wishes to attract into the following senior positions, consummate professionals, with solid leadership experience, who are driven by a passion for excellence.
Deputy Chief Executive Officer :Examinations and Assessment
Job Purpose
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the position will be responsible for overseeing provision of examinations and assessment services, whilst ensuring that they are delivered at the highest standard and in line with best practice.
The Job
The incumbent will be responsible for, among others, the following:
⦁ Leading in framing the strategic direction of the Examinations and Assessment cluster.
⦁ Ensuring the effective and efficient development and conduct of examinations and assessments.
⦁ Overseeing and leading the development of instruments and operational documentation for the delivery of examinations and assessments, according to the curriculum and in line with international standards.
⦁ Providing assurance to Council on the integrity, fairness, transparency and accuracy of the assessment activities conducted.
⦁ Promoting and supporting strong cross-functional exchanges among the departments within the Examinations and Assessment cluster.
The Person
The right candidate will possess the following:
⦁ A minimum of a Masters’s Degree in Education, or any related field from a recognized University. A Ph.D. would present an added advantage.
⦁ At least fifteen (15) years of professional experience in an examinations and assessment environment, including at least seven (7) in a senior management position.
