Ngamiland, therefore, you must still enjoy getting out on site and have the enthusiasm and interest to work in a remote location and in a multicultural work environment. Only Botswana
citizens may apply.

AMBULANCE DRIVER
BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION:

Driving the ambulance safely to health facilities, transporting
patients, emergency teams participating in emergency
response activities, providing general assistance at the mine
site clinic and assisting in moving patients on stretchers.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

: You will be responsible for;
• Safely driving patients as quickly and as safely as possible
from the Mine to health facilities as directed by the site clinic
staff and maintaining the log book for all trips
• Sanitizing the ambulance and safely disposing of any medical
waste and soiled linens.
• Assisting in the management of patients in an ambulance by
following the instructions of the attending Nurse, operating
stretchers and wheelchairs to convey the patient to the site of
medical assistance.
• Checking the first aid and medical supplies inventory levels
before each shift and ensuring the ambulance is well stocked.
• Complying with SHEC policies and procedures in all activities
undertaken in order to minimize unsafe incidents and
accidents.
• Performing daily inspections of the ambulance to ensure that
the vehicle is roadworthy, taking corrective action such as
refueling, topping up water and oil levels, tyre pressure, etc
as appropriate, and completing the standard checklist.
• Cleaning the ambulance and/or assigned vehicle daily to
maintain tidiness and a clean outlook at all times.
• Reporting faults to the Supervisor, and liaising with the
Mobile Fleet Section to arrange for regular servicing of the
vehicle in accordance with the maintenance schedule for the
ambulance and for any repairs that need to be carried out.
• Adhering to National Road Safety Codes to safeguard
passengers and goods being transported and ensure
continued serviceability of the vehicle.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES AND
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE:

• BGCSE
• Class B Drivers license, an excellent driving record, and 5 years
relevant driving experience
• Possession of a Valid First Aid Certificate and Defensive
driving license.
• Possession of a paramedic’s certificate is an added advantage
