SENIOR LECTURER I (DENTAL
THERAPY) – D3 X2 POSTS
The post is tenable at the Institute of Health Sciences, Gaborone
SALARY SCALE: D3 (P279, 660 – P308, 328 per annum)
LEAVE: 30 working days per annum
BENEFITS:

QUALIFICATION:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Dental Therapy, Dental
Hygiene, Doctor of Dentistry, or Dental Surgery. A Teaching qualification,
A postgraduate Degree or Higher Qualification in the above fields will be an
added advantage. Applicants should be registered with Botswana Health
Professions Council.
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of eight (8) years post-qualification work
experience in a related field of which two (2) years should have been
served at the D4 salary scale in Government or its equivalent in the Parastatal
or Private Sector.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Coordinate the planning, implementation and evaluation of Teaching
and Learning activities in the Dental programme.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
1. Plan and execute teaching and learning of Dental Surgery
2. Assumes full responsibility for supervising students in the clinical
area and observing ethical standards of patient care.
3. Conducts clinical teaching, monitors and compiles students’ progress
in both theory and clinical practice for assigned courses and conducts
remedial tutorials for students with special learning needs.
4. Collaborates with other members of the health team to improve patient
care, update own clinical performance skills to enhance clinical
teaching and continuing education
5. Act as a resource person and provide consultancy on areas of
specialisation to support other programmes to achieve goals.
6. Provides student support services and counselling services to
students with special needs.
7. Coordinates and participates in the development of competency
assessment tools for various training activities.
8. Participates in the clinical evaluation of the Ophthalmic Nursing
programme to assess the impact of training on service and adjust
curricula accordingly.
9. Facilitate the design, development, implementation and evaluation
of the Ophthalmic Nursing curriculum and other programmes.
10. Participates in the recruitment and selection of students for
admission into various programmes.
11. Supervises and guides junior members of staff in the department
and Institution to achieve set goals.
12. Undertake any other related duties as may be assigned by
management to meet the exigencies of service.
