MECHANICAL MAINTENANCE ARTISAN ASSISTANT (X10) – MORUPULE – Botswana Power Corporation

Main purpose of the position

To install, maintain and repair mechanical plant and equipment in accordance with standard procedures and manufacture parts by use of basic hand tools

Job Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of minor tests on mechanical equipment in accordance with standard procedures to ensure safe and reliable operation.
• Collects and analyses data to make informed decisions following standard procedures.
• Provides preliminary data for Root Cause Analysis
• Works within current compliance processes, systems and procedures and reports shortcomings to improve equipment availability and reliability
• Performs housekeeping tasks by following established procedures by keeping all work areas and tools clean.
• Initiate improvements and implements approved change management tasks through direct supervision by following established procedures.
• Carries out all routine services on mechanical equipment following established standard procedures to improve plant availability and reliability.
• Assists Mechanical Artisan on major jobs’ repair and services as and when required
• Performs relatively simple testing and quality assurance tasks.
• Operates in accordance with policies and rules, while performing routine safety checks on own equipment and workspace.
• Contributes to the development of risk assessments

Qualifications

• Trade test B in Maintenance fitting with BGCSE
• Must be a Competent Person within 6 months of appointment
• A valid Class B Driver’s license

Experience

• At least two (2) years relevant experience in industrial mechanical plant maintenance environment
