a 100% citizen-owned private hospital in Selebi Phikwe will be opening its doors to the public very soon and it is operated by a Group with interests in the healthcare value chain in Botswana. The hospital shall offer primary healthcare services as well as some specialists services to the residents of the Greater Selebi-Phikwe region and beyond.

The HR Specialist will be the the go-to person for all employee-related issue. Their duties will involve managing activities such as job design & profiling, development of compensation & benefit structures, recruitment employee relations, performance management, training & development, and talent management . People will be our most important asset and the HR Specialist shall be the one to ensure we have a happy and productive workplace where everyone works to realize our established mission and objectives. Promoting corporate values and shaping a positive culture is a vital aspect of the role of an HR Specialist
Responsibilities
- To develop and populate the structure for the operation of the hospital in and this would include job profiling, evaluation and grading
- Development and deployment of a compensation and benefit framework for the hospital structure .
- Development and deployment of all HR policies and processes required in the recruitment, deployment, and management of staff.
- Development and deployment of policies and processes to ensure compliance to
- applicable HR laws
- Bridge management and employee relations by addressing demands, grievances or other issues
- Support current and future business needs through the development, engagement, motivation and preservation of human capital
- Develop and monitor overall HR strategies, systems, tactics and procedures across the organization
- Oversee and manage a performance appraisal system that drives high performance
- Maintain pay plan and benefits program
- Assess training needs to apply and monitor training programs
- Report to management and provide decision support through HR metrics
Requirements and skills
- People oriented and results driven
- Demonstrable experience with Human Resources metrics
- Knowledge of HR systems and databases as well as training in different HR profiling and comps and benefit systems
- Ability to architect strategy along with leadership skills
- Excellent active listening, negotiation and presentation skills
- Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company
- In-depth knowledge of labour law and HR best practices
Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor degree in human resources management , industrial psychology or equivalent
- A post graduate qualification would be an advantage
- At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role in the service industry and hospital and or healthcare would be an added advantage
- Experience in a start- up environment would also be an added advantage
The position is initially on 6-month fixed term contract with an opportunity to be permanent depending on the performance in the contract period. It is tenable immediately in Selebi Phikwe and open to only citizens of Botswana.
