Greenkeeper – Golf Course Supervisor – Stanbic Bank Gaborone Golf Club

The Stanbic Bank Gaborone Golf Club is looking for a qualified individual to fill the position of Greenskeeper (Golf Course Supervisor) competent in the following areas:

Duties and Responsibilities

• Ability to keep management informed
• Course Staff Management
• Ability to direct the course staff in various duties – like landscaping, irrigation, mowing and cutting of all playing surfaces.
• Skillful in recruiting, supervisory roles, monitoring course staff, evaluating, training and motivating the staff body
• Day to Day management of golf course operations
• Management and maintenance of greens, fairways, tee-boxes and rough
• Spring Treatment – Hollow-tinning, Dusting sand greens, Greens speed measuring, diseases, pests and weeds identifying.
• Pest control know-how and operations
• Knowledge of safe use of chemicals – mixing and chemicals application
• Knowledge and ability to lay out, and implement irrigation and watering patterns of the greens, drainage patterns, construct tees and greens
• Ability to implement effective greens and course maintenance schedules, i.e., monthly, weekly and daily maintenance
• Keeps track of routine machinery repairs to ensure their availability when the machines are required for work

Qualifications and Requirements

• Past work experience in a similar role is a must have.
• 3 – 4 Years Experience is preferred from a recognized Golf Club locally or internationally
• Traceable references and recommendations should be provided.
• The applicant must possess a valid driver’s license
• The applicant must have the relevant educational background to the position.
