Artisan Rigger – MP Mining

Job Description

The Artisan Rigger will be required to perform all activities necessary to accomplish the effective, safe and reliable lifting and rigging of heavy loads as well as maintain and inspect equipment and overhead cranes in the area of responsibility.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performing statutory inspections and load tests on all rigging and lifting equipment
• Formulating written safe work procedures for the rigging function and communicating procedures to operational staff.
• Enforcing and monitoring compliance with SHEA policies
• Monitoring all the maintenance of all rigging equipment
• Monitoring conditions of all lifting gear before, during and after use and report any damages.
• Conducting quarterly inspections of all lifting and rigging equipment
• Safely carry out day to day rigging and lifting services mine wide following laid down procedures.
• Attend to breakdowns and emergencies as shall be required within all sections of the mine.
• Implementing and adhering to MP Mine SHEA policies around the area of responsibility.
• To provide lifting and scaffold services as shall be required.
• Ensure that effective inspection and maintenance of all lifting equipment is conducted and logged in to the register.

QUALIFICATIONS

• NCC in Rigging plus a scaffolding erection certificate
• 5 years post apprenticeship training (proposal)
• Mobile crane operation an added advantage
