Botswana Examinations Council (BEC), invites suitably qualified candidates for the following position;

Research and Development Executive x 5- Science (Biology/Chemistry/Physics), Moral Education/Religious Education, History, English/English Literature, Geography

Job Summary:

The R&D Executive is responsible for leading the organization’s research and development efforts to drive innovation, create new products or services, and enhance existing offerings. This includes setting the strategic direction for R&D, managing a team of researchers and developers, and ensuring the alignment of R&D activities with the organization’s overall business objectives. The R&D Executive works closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, operations, and finance, to translate innovative ideas into successful commercial products or solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

– Develop and implement the organization’s R&D strategy, ensuring it aligns with the overall business strategy and market trends
– Oversee the planning, execution, and management of various R&D projects, including setting goals, allocating resources, and monitoring progress
– Manage a team of researchers, engineers, and developers, including hiring, training, and performance management
– Foster a culture of innovation and creativity within the R&D team, encouraging new ideas and calculated risk-taking
– Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify market needs, competitive insights, and emerging technologies that can inform R&D priorities
– Establish and maintain relationships with external partners, such as academia, research institutions, and industry experts, to leverage external knowledge and capabilities
– Analyze R&D data, metrics, and trends to evaluate the effectiveness of R&D efforts and make data-driven decisions
– Secure funding and resources for R&D projects, including preparing budgets, securing grants, and managing budget allocations
– Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to R&D activities
– Stay up-to-date with the latest technological advancements, industry trends, and competitive landscape to inform the organization’s R&D strategy

Requirements:

– Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in a relevant scientific, engineering, or technical field
– 10+ years of experience in R&D leadership roles, with a proven track record of successful product or technology development
– Comprehensive understanding of research methodologies, product development life cycles, and technology trends
– Extensive experience in managing cross-functional teams and coordinating complex R&D projects
– Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
– Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities, with the ability to translate technical information for non-technical audiences
– Proven ability to secure funding, manage budgets, and allocate resources effectively
– Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards pertaining to R&D activities
– Demonstrated entrepreneurial mindset and passion for driving innovation
