Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the above position in the
Ministry of Health, tenable in the Ministry Headquarters, Gaborone.
SALARY: E2 (P449, 256 – P467,436 per annum)
BENEFITS:
a) Optional contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government pays 50%, Employee pays 50%).
b)Contributory Pension Scheme for Permanent and Pensionable staff (Government contributes 15% and employee contnbutes 5% of basic salary).
LEAVE: 30 working days per annum.
QUALIFICATIONS: A Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Procurement Supply Chain Management Business Administration or a related field.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of fourteen (14) years relevant work experience in the field of procurement, of which two (2) years must have been served as Deputy Manager (Procurement) at Dl level or equivalent. MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To provide strategic leadership in the procurement of supplies, services and works as well as the disposal of assets for the ministry in a timely and efficient manner.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

1.Plan and direct the activities of the Procurement Unit.
2.Identify and source suitable supplies, services and works and negotiate prices in accordance with delegated authority.
3.Give advice on procurement matters requinng policy action and guide on all technical matters for effective procurement of goods and services.
4.Initiate the development and review of policy and strategy to enhance the effectiveness of the ministry in meeting government expectations
concerning public procurement and asset disposal.
5.Facilitate contract between contractors and the Ministries and Departments.
6.Liaise with relevant bodies to ensure a proactive management and development of the contractor base, including small and medium sized enterprises and other service providers.
7.Supervise procurement of all supplies, goods and services needed by the ministry.
8.Coordinate and oversee the development of procurement plan.
9.Coordinate and oversee contract administration and preparation of end of activity report.
10.Manage contract with contractors to ensure expected deliverables.
11.Oversee preparation of tender documents.
12.Initiate and direct the establishment of PPADB support structures to ensure compliance of the ministry with the statutory requirements.
