VACANCY CIRCULAR NO. 2 OF 2025

The Ministry of Sport and Arts invites applications from talented, decisive, self-driven and qualified citizens of Botswana to fill the following vacant positions tenable in the Ministry of Youth Sport and Culture Headquarters in Gaborone:

MANAGER-PROCUREMENT (1 POST)

SALARY SCALE: E2 (P449.256 – P467.436) per annum.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To provide strategic leadership in the procurement of supplies, services and works as well as the disposal of assets for the Ministry in a timely and efficient manner.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

1. Initiates the development and review of policy and strategy to enhance the effectiveness of the Ministry in meeting Government’s expectations concerning public procurement and asset disposal.
2. Coordinates and oversees the examination and development of estimates of material, equipment and service requirement.
3. Identifies and sources suitable supplies, services and works and negotiates prices.
4. Provides advice on procurement matters requiring policy action and guides on all technical matters for effective procurement of goods. works and services.

5. Provides technical advice in the preparation of tender documentation, administration of the tendering and evaluation of bids for contract awards.
6. Develops contracts with contractors for service provision to the Ministry and monitors them to ensure expected deliverables.
7. Aligns and endorses contractor selection to procurement policy and strategy of Government of Botswana and reviews the list of contractors based on their performance.
8. Oversees the maintenance of list of approved suppliers, and evaluates supply capacities and contractor performance.
9. Coordinates and oversees the development and inplementation of Procurement Plan.
10. Manages all procurement and disposal by tender activities of the ministry.
11. Coordinates and oversees contract administration and preparation of End of Activity Report

QUALIFIED APPLICANTS PROFILE

To be considered for this position, candidates must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Procurement Supply Chain Management 8usmess Management or related held with fourteen (14) years post qualification experience, two (2) years of which shorid have been served at D1 salary scale in Government or equivalent level in a private/parasfatal organisation

2. Optional contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government pays 50% and employee 50%).
