The positions are based at the Mine Site located between Maun and Sehithwa in Ngamiland. OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH DOCTOR

BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION:

To provide integrated clinical services, emergency care, and deliver robust occupational health services that are aligned with current relevant legislation, company policies, and procedures to maintain the health of employees.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your key accountabilities include:

• Developing, coordinating, and monitoring the implementation of medical surveillance programs in line with legislative requirements to ensure fitness of employ-ees.
• Identifying, investigating, and managing cases where health issues are suspected to be caused by occupational hazards.
• Assessing and evaluating individuals with various dis-eases, impairments, or disabilities to determine the temporary or permanent nature of their condition.
• Providing routine primary health care services, implementing emergency response protocols and wellness programme.
• Developing an annual budget for the medical depart-ments, covering staffing, equipment, medical supplies, training, and emergency response resources.
• Providing leadership, coaching, and supervision to subordinate medical staff (e.g., nurses, paramedics and ensuring that all staff are proficient in medical pro-cedures, emergency response protocols, and up-to-date health practices.
• Driving support and managing the implementation of changes to operational procedures to ensure they are as per safety standards.

MINIMUM

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE:

• Degree in Medicine/Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Bachelor of medicine and surgery (MB ChB)/MBBS and Diploma in Occupational Health
• Minimum of (5) years’ working experience as a Medical Officer
• Registered with Botswana Health Professional Council
• Occupational Health and safety knowledge
• Assessment of disability and fitness for work
